Cooperative Stores join network of donation points

4th July 2017

North Ayrshire Foodbank thank all of the managers and staff for their support in the establishment of additional donation points across the local authority area. The Cooperative stores have been busy on Arran and in largs assisting with this important work. The network has been completed with the addition of Beith, Dalry, Dreghorn, Irvine, Kilbirnie, Kilwinning and West Kilbride. All have received a drop-bin along with a poster to highlight the foods requested of their shoppers.

It is deeply gratifying that Food retailers have such a concern for their communities and wish to be part of the success story in the provision of support to those in need. In 2016 4714 individuals were assisted with 1485 being under the age of 18. Over the year donors gave 60 tons of food ensuring all requests were met. That is the tonnage we need to raise over 2017 and we are excited that the Cooperative Stores wish to give their shoppers an opportunity to contribute along with other offers of assistance by managers and staff.

It is by working together that we can ensure that those experiencing a short-term food crisis get the support they need.
