On Sunday 1st December. North Ayrshire Foodbank will be 12 years old. The management and volunteers thank everyone who has made the work of the foodbank possible. Supermarket shoppers, churches, schools, businesses, individuals and North Ayrshire Council. Both by donating food as well as funds. The partnership between the foodbank and the people of North Ayrshire has been incredible. Your compassion for those facing food insecurity is truly amazing.
Yet, the fact of the Foodbanks existence is not what we are noting. It is the strength of community response to the plight of hunger by so many within our communities that we “celebrate”. Through this collective action we are saying No to neighbours, friends, colleagues and family having to struggle to put enough food onto the table. We are saying No to children doing without food during school holidays. We are saying No to households choosing between heating their homes over the winter months and eating well.
No request received for food support has gone unanswered nor unfulfilled. Only because you have given the resources these last 12 years. As we prepare to go into the 13th year we are ready to keep the work going, again, only thanks to your support.
The Grey Dippers are running their fundraising campaign for the third year. If you could donate to that amazing campaign we would thank you and promise as a team to keep the food flowing where it is needed. A QR code is in the poster below if you can make a donation.
Thank you for everything you do to make the Foodbanks work possible.
